Attraction
With so much to see and do in the Warrnambool area, choosing accommodation at the Mahogany Motel will ensure that you?re in the thick of it. We have covered just some of the attractions available in the area.
Whale Watching
Each year, between May and October, you will find that Warrnambool becomes a hub of activity. This is when majestic Southern Right Whales return to Lady Bay to give birth and raise their calves. Whale Viewing Platforms overlooking one of the whale?s favourite underwater playgrounds are available at Logan?s Beach. You can also book yourself onto a boat charter that will allow you to get much closer to these gentle giants and their adorable young.
Beaches
There are two main beaches to choose from holidaying in Warrnambool ? the main drag, Logan?s Beach, stretches across Lady Bay and is a popular place for swimming, surfing, yachting and even windsurfing. Lady Bay is also home to 29 shipwrecks, so don?t hesitate to explore a little. The secondary beach, at Stingray Bay, is found only a short drive away and provides families with a sheltered cove to swim in. Here you will also find crystal-clear rock pools.
Heritage
For those interested in maritime heritage or Australia?s early days in general, there is plenty of history to be discovered in Warrnambool. The Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village is one of the region?s most popular attractions ? set on more than 40 hectares, the village gives visitors the opportunity to learn about life in the 19th century. Explore the historic lighthouses, original buildings and museum, authentic garrison, and the Shipwrecked Sound and Laser Show.
